This is the instruction to add GNOME panel which was deleted in ubuntu.
// Use gconftool-2 to customize Gnome
gconftool-2 –shutdown
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
// Kill Then Reanimate Your GNOME Panel
pkill gnome-panel
